Ed Sidote, an avid outdoorsman, was the 3rd person to become an end-to-end hiker of the Finger Lakes Trail. In the 1980s, Ed started locally promoting the Finger Lakes Trail by putting out flyers with his contact information on them throughout the hiking trails in Chenango County. He gathered together local hikers to achieve their end-to-end badge by providing information, encouragement, maps, rides, and help. He continually shared his dream of forming a local affiliate club of the Finger Lakes Trail Conference. The FLT Bullthistle Hikers were founded in 2004 to provide information about hiking opportunities in the Chenango County area and beyond.
